Chuck France is a Director, Writer, Cinematographer, and Still Photographer with a focus on visual storytelling rooted in collaboration, craft, and human connection. Raised in the Southwest Missouri Ozarks, his work is shaped by values of family, community, and hard work—principles that continue to inform his approach on set.He holds a degree in History with double minors in Psychology and Anthropology from the University of Northern Colorado. France entered the film industry through hands-on work in production, art, G&E, and camera departments in Denver and Kansas City before transitioning into photojournalism. He became an award-winning still photographer, working with The Associated Press, Getty Images Assignment, The Wall Street Journal, Time.com, Harvard University, and The Kansas City Star.France later spent six years as Chief Photographer at the University of Kansas, producing stills and video while managing digital assets for the Office of the Chancellor and Marketing Communications. His commitment to narrative filmmaking ultimately led him back full-time to directing and cinematography, with work spanning feature films, shorts, and television.He is a Rosco Ambassador, a former Sigma Cine Ambassador, and a Friend of the American Society of Cinematographers. France has also been mentored by Roy H. Wagner ASC, FRPS—two-time Emmy winner and Kodak-recognized Top 100 Director of Photography in the World.
